| As we go through the day, we tend not to focus on the moment and the world around us. Everyday we trudge along, often with blinders and hundreds of thoughts racing thru our minds that we just stop seeing. Being so engrossed with our day to day, we pass up visual delights of color, contrast, shape, form, and random design that is all around us. Thus, as a creative exercise in "Seeing" again and following the format of this presentation, we came up with this challenge. We would start at any Point A. Set a timer for 20 seconds. Walk, run, or even skip away and when the alarm goes off, stop, "see" and photograph something of interest. Repeat 19 more times. So, by having the constraints of time and the distance we can travel during these intervals, we must again awaken our eyes to seeing all the cool stuff around us in a 6.67 minute slice of life. |

The Original FAT LADY
A new POP-PROPAGANDA series titled “FAT LADY”, depicts a woman shoving the barrel of a gun down into another woman’s mouth. The word "FAT LADY" appears on the side of the gun. This piece is inspired by the old saying "IT AIN’T OVER TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS". In the piece the gun metaphorically represents the “FAT LADY singing or about to sing," The piece is allegorical, and the treatment has an old movie poster, or punk rock feel to it. These paintings are a counter intuitive response to value & commodification vs artistic liberation. The paintings depict a conceptual art character similar to a comic book character. This character explores socio-political mindscapes, through inquisitive pop-appearances and satire. In essence, it’s a conceptual character developing in REAL-TIME, through social events such as the art exhibit "00 ZEALOT". The FAT LADY paintings utilize the media as a means for conceptual and artistic development. The paintings present allusions to the first and second amendments. Freedom of speech or lack thereof, you decide. They are 21st century Pietas, with religious resonance; they are hopeful paintings reflecting Heroic Resignation, and a social decadence. WIN THE WAR INSIDE YOUR MIND. |
